Garib Dass has been one such dhol ustaad who took the dhol music to new International heights. He was born in 1939 in western Punjab, India and started playing dhol as from early age. He took dhol music to countries like Singapore, Thailand, Canada, Australia and UAE etc. His dhol music was vastly loved by Canadians during his 1986 visit for World Exposition in Vancouver. He has appeared in many regional films including – Sat Sri Akal (1977) and Jat Punjabi (1979). He has been committed to take dhol music to new heights and featured his dhol learning series through instructional videos – Nache Dharti Ambar Gave (2004) and Learn Bhangra in 7 Days (1979).


Dhol ustaad Lal Singh Bhatti has been a timeless dhol performer. He plays for various desi Punjabi genre including Sufi and Bhangra.  He started his career in Punjab University and later became the legend of dhol and taught popular dhol players including Sukhshinder Shinda .His hugely popular dhol numbers include Heer and Jugni. His music is still popular amongst the youth and is widely loved by the local desi people. He has worked with International bands including Amar Group, Southall, UK. He had amazing vocals and people would end up being lost with his enchanting dhol numbers and music.


Ustaad Johnny Kalsi has revolutionized the dhol music. He is dhol drum performer in London. He founded dhol foundation in 1989 with the central motive of popularizing it worldwide. Johnny has been member of the band Alaap. He is a renowned name in dhol and Bhangra music in UK. Johnny got his Hollywood break when he gave music for a bond movie, Tomorrow Never Dies. He has also provided dhol music in the movie Incredible Hulk. Johnny has played in new movie Sea Monsters and is a regular performer in UK music circuit.
